Control system of the future: Grid digitalization, AI and cloud technology
Berlin, December 12, 2024 – For the first time, PSI Software SE will present a comprehensive solution portfolio for the energy industry at E-world from 11 to 13 February 2025 with the newly formed Grid & Energy Management (GEM) business unit. Under the motto „Empowering the future of energy“, the focus will be on the digitalization of the grid management, artificial intelligence and cloud technology. Another highlight is the new control system of the future, which can be experienced in a virtual reality showcase at booth B121 in hall 3.
PSI is currently developing an innovative and platform-based control system. A showcase will demonstrate for the first time how adaptive and interoperable modules can be used to efficiently and holistically map the processes for managing grid infrastructures.
A cross-sector control system architecture from the highest to the lowest voltage level will also be presented. In a virtually accessible control room, the demand-oriented integration of Section 14a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG) to support IT, planning and field processes will be demonstrated.
Two further highlights will be the demonstration of 360-degree grid management from the control room to planning and to the field level as well as the End2End demonstrator of a network-oriented low-voltage control system. PSI is thus presenting the energy future live and showing how the practical implementation of Section 14a of the EnWG can be achieved in the low-voltage grid.
With the new version of PSImarket 5, PSI will present a powerful cloud-based solution for energy trading and sales with numerous new and further developments. In addition, the current release of PSImarket 4.5.2 will showcase enhancements in contract management and calculation, support for power plant optimization and new standard interfaces. The integrated TS-Energy platform for the optimization and risk assessment of contracts, power plants and complex energy portfolios will also be presented.
In addition, the latest release of the gas control system will be presented. This includes further developments for the transport, distribution and storage of renewable and decarbonized gases and, in the future, hydrogen. Additional high-performance modules for controlling gas grids will also be highlighted, including gas grid simulation, gas quality tracking and energy transport logistics.
The new GEM business unit has been created by combining the areas of electrical energy and integrated grids, gas grids and pipelines, energy trading systems, process coupling as well as smart grids. By bundling these areas, PSI is reflecting the convergence of the electricity, gas and heat energy sectors and the regulatory dependencies in a unified organizational structure.
The PSI Group develops software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities and industry. As an independent software producer with more than 2,300 employees, PSI has been a technology leader since 1969 for process control systems that ensure sustainable energy supply, mobility and production by combining AI methods with industrially proven optimization methods. The innovative industry products can be operated on-premises or in the cloud.
