Optimization of production logistics thanks to PSIwms

Koenig & Bauer Kammann is a leading manufacturer of decorating machines for the glass, plastic and packaging industry. The company, with subsidiaries in the United States and China as well as a global sales network, plans and assembles its machines in the plant in Löhne. To make the production logistics more efficient, Koenig & Bauer Kammann relies on the PSIwms warehouse management system.

Mastering challenges

Koenig & Bauer Kammann has been using the PSIpenta ERP system to control its ERP processes since 2007. With the construction of a new plant in Löhne, the need arose to optimize internal production logistics. Previously, employees had to manually order missing materials.

PSIwms impressed with its seamless integration with PSIpenta and its extensive standard functions.

Customer's objective

The main objective was to automate production logistics and ensure that materials are available in the right place at the right time. The focus was on optimizing material flow and integrating warehouse and production processes.

Solution approach

With the introduction of PSIwms, material procurement was centralized and automated. PSIwms en-sures that production materials are available at the right time at the respective production site. Urgently needed goods are recorded directly and delivered to the workplace without intermediate storage. For all other materials, a semi-automatic stacker is controlled by a storage and retrieval machine, which then takes them to the destination specified by PSIwms. The transfer is acknowledged via a mobile data terminal.

In addition, PSIwms coordinates parts produced in-house and handles the logistics of power cables and liquids. If material is missing, the system automatically triggers a replenishment delivery.
