Collect forecasts and planning data and forecast network conditions

Berlin, May 4, 2021 – MVV Netze GmbH, the grid company of Mannheim-based energy company MVV, has commissioned PSI Software AG with the implementation of the Redispatch 2.0 extended variant of the modular software solution PSIsaso/DSO. This will enable MVV Netze to summarize its extensive forecasts and planning data and to forecast network conditions in order to reliably implement the extended requirements for the redispatch process according to NABEG 2.0.

In addition to the maintenance and required hardware, the scope of delivery includes the modules network condition forecasting with corresponding visualization tools as well as redispatch in the network control system for calls in the event of tolerance and extended reporting. Moreover, the forecasting solution PSIforecast is used for the creation of spatial and temporal high-resolution and precise power forecasts.

PSIsaso/DSO continuously collects the network model from the control system as well as the schedule and forecast data such as load and feed-in forecasts from PSIforecast and uses them to create network condition forecasts. Based on this, the requirements of the upstream network operator are compared and the necessary measures to avoid congestion in the own network or in the network of the downstream network operator are initiated. Thanks to the modular concept, various customer requirements can be implemented precisely and cost-effectively.

MVV Netze uses a PSI network control system, which was already upgraded to the latest technical standard in advance to  implement the Redispatch 2.0 requirements. This allows a close coupling of both systems as well as the implementation of further functions. The system is designed to be able to fulfill the future reporting obligations for subordinate network operators in accordance with the Redispatch 2.0 regime.

With around 500 employees, MVV Netze GmbH plans, builds and operates the energy and water grids as well as waterworks in Mannheim and neighboring municipalities. The control center in Mannheim monitors, controls and regulates both the grid areas of MVV Netze and those of Energienetze Offenbach GmbH (ENO).

The PSI Group develops its own software products for optimizing the flow of energy and materials for utilities (energy grids, energy trading, public transport) and industry (metals production, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics). PSI was founded in 1969 and employs more than 2,000 people worldwide.
