Solution approach
FIEGE decided to use PSIwms in the Burgwedel, Erfurt and Worms logistics centers. In Burgwedel, with a warehouse area of 50,000 square meters, the system controls the stocking of garments, accessories and shoes as well as order and dispatch production for both the B2B and B2C segments. PSIwms generates path-optimized picking processes from the order data it receives from the FIEGE EDI platform and transfers them to mobile data terminals (MDT). It controls nine different order types and offers users a flexible user interface thanks to the PSI click design, which can be individually adapted to the respective working methods. The system's multi-site capability enables central control and coordination of several locations. In addition, a special consumption function was integrated in Worms to efficiently manage the storage of untaxed imported goods.
Ergebnis
The use of PSIwms in the three Mega Centers led to a significant improvement in the flexibility and efficiency of intralogistics processes at FIEGE. The cross-location control and the possibility of self-configuration contribute significantly to the optimization of warehouse management and ensure a high quality of service for customers.
Lessons Learned
- The close cooperation between software manufacturer and user enables the development of market-driven and industry-specific functionalities that strengthen the competitiveness of both the user and the product manufacturer.
- An agile and cooperative development strategy offers a significant competitive advantage through continuous process optimization.
Conclusion
The use of PSIwms in the FIEGE Mega Centers impressively demonstrates how intralogistics can be designed efficiently and flexibly using a customized software solution. The successful implementation underlines the importance of a cooperative development strategy that provides both the logistics service provider and the software provider with decisive advantages.
