PSIganesi/Online Simulation and Monitoring of Gas Flows

Transient calculation (simulation or reconstruction) of a given pipeline network.

PSIganesi/Online is used to simulate and monitor transient gas flows in gas distribution and gas transportation networks.

The gas networks can be mixed as required and contain regulators, compressors, valves, etc. Gases and gas mixtures can be simulated. The behavior in the high-pressure range is described by the real gas factor. Dynamically slow processes with equalization times in hours up to fast processes with equalization times of minutes can be mapped.

PSIganesi/Online is continuously being enhanced in cooperation with industrial users and taking realistic requirements into account. It is one of the best known and most proven products for gas network simulation.

Benefits at a Glance

PSIganesi/Online
  • Decision support Calculation of future network states with "what-if scenarios".
  • Evaluation and balancing Including in network areas where source tracking is not possible.
  • Measurement monitoring Plausibility check of measured process values.
  • Indications Warnings of future critical process states, e.g. falling below the required network buffer.
  • Control strategies Determination and testing of future network control strategies.

Functions

  • The digital gas network twin Observe transient flow processes in meshed gas networks and determine the current process state. Continuously track the propagation of different gas properties in a network during all simulation calculations. Use the simulation in real-time and also to predict future network states.
  • Precise calculations Determine all causes of deviating operating conditions and their effects. Simulation results are displayed as single values, in tables and charts, as topology and characteristic curves and graphically in SCADA process displays. All results are continuously validated and all information including alarms and warnings are logged.
  • Proactive action Cyclically identify any negative deviation toward undesirable process states in advance. Determine the process element that will reach a certain threshold and find out the exact time of the event. Determine optimal settings for future control modes and check the effects of the changes.
  • Pig and token tracking Real-time process tracking with accurate location and time of arrival for pigs and tokens. Manage all necessary data for pigs and tokens. All relevant data is available and you can interactively intervene at any time during tracking.
  • Balancing and leak detection Know what is in the gas network. Track in real time the behavior of the network inventory. Optimally store gas on or off using line pack.

Modules

Real-time simulation
Module

Real-time simulation

Determination of pressures, calorific values, flow and quantity data in the entire gas transport grid as well as verification of measured data.

Details of this module
Cyclic forecast simulation
Module

Cyclic forecast simulation

Automated, early determination and detection of future critical states in the supply area.

„What-If“ Simulation
Module

„What-If“ Simulation

When necessary, any critical situation scenario in the supply area can be configured, parameterized as well as analysed. Forecast simulation determines suitable control measures to remedy these scenarios.

Post-calculation simulation
Module

Post-calculation simulation

Implemented operating modes can be subsequently analysed and, if necessary, verified by alternative operating modes.

Maintenance simulation
Module

Maintenance simulation

Maintenance simulation is used to check scheduled maintenance measures along within the gas grid.

Repair reconstruction
Module

Repair reconstruction

After correcting a faulty database, the current state can be calculated without interruption. The newly determined network states are then corrected in the archive.
